If you have an existing singlesig wallet that was previously set up with its seed phrase properly documented, review the below steps, check all the necessary boxes, and proceed to the next section.
You should only download the Trezor Suite from the official website. There are many fake versions, so do not download it from a third-party app store. If anything looks suspicious, call Unchained at +1 (844) 486-2424.
If your Trezor is not recognized by Trezor Suite, follow our troubleshooting steps.
If you have a Trezor Safe 3 or Safe 5, proceed through a quick authenticity check followed by a brief tour teaching you the basic operations of your Trezor.
When you select Create new wallet, you’re generating the private key that helps protect your bitcoin. While the Trezor Suite will automatically create a singlesig wallet, you won’t need to use it. The key can also be used for multisig as part of your Unchained vault!
When you see backup type, always choose a 12 word or 24 word backup. Avoid single-share or multi-share backup types that have 20 words. Learn more about our backup type recommendations and how to choose the correct option.
Check each box to confirm you understand the warnings on your screen. Read them carefully.
Select Begin backup and look at the screen of your Trezor.
Write down the first word of your seed phrase backup in the first numbered space of your wallet backup card.
Take your time carefully writing each word in its corresponding numbered space.
Double check the words or perform the multiple choice quiz, depending on your device model.
The order and spelling of the words matter, but capitalization does not. It’s possible you will receive the same word more than once. If your booklet has space for 20 words while your device only provides 12 words, that's fine—ignore the unused spaces.
Model One: Look at the numbers on the device screen and locate the number you want to choose for your PIN. Then, click on the dot which is in the same grid position. Your Trezor device is the map for what the dots on your computer screen represent.
Model T: Use the touch screen on your device to enter the numbers. When you’ve entered the final number of your desired PIN, select the checkmark on the touch screen.
Safe 3 (shown): Use the buttons on your device to scroll through the numbers. Pressing both buttons at the same time will select a number and add it to the PIN. When you’ve entered the final number of your desired PIN, scroll through the options to find Enter and press both buttons to finish.
Safe 5: Use the touch screen on your device to enter the numbers. When you’ve entered the final number of your desired PIN, select the checkmark on the touchscreen to finish.
It’s optional to set a name for the device, which may be useful if you own multiple identical devices.
