How to use your new Unchained vault

Move bitcoin into your vault
There are two ways to get bitcoin into your new vault: buy bitcoin through Unchained’s trading desk, or deposit bitcoin from an external source. Let’s review both options.
Moving bitcoin into an IRA vault?

Moving bitcoin into an IRA vault involves special procedures depending on where the funds are coming from. Within your vault, select Deposit and then Request IRA funding form. Once the brief form is filled out and submitted, a member of the Unchained IRA team will reach out to assist you with the proper funding process. The information below is specific to vaults within Personal accounts or Trust accounts.

Buy bitcoin with Unchained’s trading desk
When you’re ready to buy bitcoin to your Unchained vault, click Start trading on the bottom-left side of your screen and follow the on-screen instructions. When you use Unchained’s trading desk to buy bitcoin, it goes directly into your vault upon settlement.

Depositing bitcoin from an external source
If you already have bitcoin on an exchange or in a self-custody wallet, you can move it into your Unchained vault.

Within your vault, select Deposit. This reveals a deposit address to your vault, which you can use to send bitcoin to your vault.
While optional, we recommend confirming your address on your device. This confirms that the keys stored within your hardware wallets do indeed control the address you’ll be sending bitcoin to, eliminating the need to trust Unchained or anything else you see on your computer screen.

Move bitcoin out of your vault
With an Unchained vault, you can send bitcoin to any address at any time. Moving bitcoin out of your vault requires you to sign the transaction using two out of the three keys.
To securely spend from your Unchained Capital vault, you'll need to prepare the required hardware wallets (Trezor, Ledger, or Coldcard), a PC or Mac with USB ports to connect your hardware wallets, and a destination address to send your bitcoin to (such as an exchange or external wallet).
